We, at Chuck’s Landscaping and Lawn Services, take great pride at what we do. We believe our customers should make well informed and educated decisions when it comes to their backyards. Below are 5 questions you should ask before hiring a landscape contractor:
- Can you show me your work?
This is the most important question to ask your landscape contractor. A quality landscape company should be able to provide you with quality portfolio. Look at the portfolio. Make sure it matches your needs and taste.
- Can you provide me with referrals?
Don’t commit before checking the references. Choose a landscaping contractor with at least 5 years experience. Less experience may equal worse quality.
- Are your evergreens, trees, and shrubs grown locally?
Soil and climate conditions vary in different growing zones. For the long-term health of your landscape investment, it is very important to use locally grown plant material.
- How many people do you employ? Do you use Subcontractors?
It is very important that the contractor you choose not only has the expertise, but also the ability to follow through and finish your landscape project. As with building a new home, not enough employees or an abundance of subcontractors may delay or jeopardize your new landscape.
- What is a realistic budget for my new landscape?
A realistic value for your landscape project would be no more than 10% of your property value. Look at your landscape as an “Investment in Nature”. According to Money Magazine, a well-designed landscape increases property value by 15-20%.
